What is wrong with this inference?

"Brownie is yours, and Brownie is a donkey. Therefore, Brownie is your donkey."

"Brownie is yours, and Brownie is a father. Therefore, Brownie is your father."

The medievals sure seemed to like any example/problem that had as its conclusion "You are an ass."
