I last cut my hair 8 years ago, but then only shoulder length, so not this short. Otherwise, the last time my hair was this short was about 20 years ago, so, yeah, you haven't ever known me with short hair!
(I suppose I could've cut it a month early and showed up to 12th Night like this...that almost would've been worth it to see the facial expressions in person!)
Even *I* (older sister) hardly know you with short hair! You were, what, 5? or 6? when you told Mom you wanted your hair cut SHORT. And you meant SHORT, and she helped you get it cut SHORT.
Hair frustration has been culminating for the last year or so, and I'd begun thinking about it about two months ago. Finally bit the bullet and hacked it off yesterday morning, and then got Joel to even it out.
*laugh* Time for me too! Not only the "no insulation on the back of my neck", but also the fact that the edges brush my neck, and also, for some reason, my hair feels *heavier*, I think because it's ending point is just different from what I'm used to.
I've found the big surprise is the first couple of washes, where you're used to the mass/feel of your hair while washing, and all of a sudden you have WAAAAY too much shampoo, and your hands have slid right off your head because there's nothing to wash.
Maybe now you won't be mistaken for someone's remarkably well-spoken teenage daughter... :-)
In addition to the smaller amounts of shampoo, I'm finding it really weird that washing it is roughly "scrub, scrub, scrub", drying it is "rub, rub, rub", and brushing it is "brush, brush, brush", and then I can go out the door. I like having wash-n-go hair!
Maybe now you won't be mistaken for someone's remarkably well-spoken teenage daughter... :-)
You think? Because my first thought after the locks were gone was "OMG, now I look like Ramona." I feel like I've lowered my apparent age from about 12 to about 8...

(I'm *still* getting double takes, two years later, myself).

On the other hand, either my supervisor hasn't noticed or just hasn't said anything.
