last scroll from coronation

I waited awhile on posting this one because on the day of the event I found out that I'd been given the wrong name/award combination, and they were going to scrape out the original recipient's name and replace it with someone else's. Unfortunately, I don't know who the someone else is, so I've just gone and blanked out the original recipient's name.

This is, I think, my favorite piece of illumination so far:
AoA

Two reasons: one, it matches my exemplar much more closely than any other piece I've done:
Codex Mellicensis

Two, this was my first real attempt with mixing paints, and the result was total success. All of the colors were a standard base paint mixed with white, except for the orange, which is vermillion mixed with yellow. I had no idea I'd get such a lovely orange from doing so.

You are getting better and better. If you haven't figured it all out on your own by the time I see you at the next KWHSS, remind me to show you a couple shading tricks.

I think I have a relatively good idea about the technique of shading, but my biggest problem with going forward on this aspect is that I have a very hard time seeing what to do. I have a terrible time seeing where shading goes, and what brush strokes in what colors go in to making shading. I know this is something that I can learn with practice, but at this point, I've got a long way to go.
