water heater
Mar. 8th, 2006 09:30 pmSomething is definitely wrong with our water heater. Lately the pilot light has been going out at least once a day, if not 2-3 times. Luckily, it's easy to relight, and once you have, it doesn't take long for sufficient water to heat for, e.g., a shower, but since the water heater is also responsible for the hot water that circulates through the radiators, that means we never know when we're going to wake up to or come home to a very cold house. And I *just* finished filling the tub with icy cold water...*sigh*, now I have to wait for the water to heat up so I can refill it, and in the meantime I'll grump here a bit.
This is definitely not a new problem - when we moved in, we found out the next day that we had no hot water. At the time, though, we didn't know what the problem was, and when we called the technicians, they didn't have a record that our landlady had a subscription for maintenance with them. Furthermore, our landlady had just left the country on a cruise to Turkey, so she was not accessible. We ended up calling her daughter who then called the maintenance people and, speaking Dutch, got them to send a technician over, who showed us how to relight the pilot light.
After that, between then and about a month ago, it went out maybe once or twice, so it was no big deal. But this is getting frequent enough to be annoying. We'll have to have someone out to give it a full looking-over because this can't be normal functioning.
