two days as a tourist (part 2)
Jun. 10th, 2006 04:55 pmOn Wednesday, we went out to see the Anne Frank House. Despite having read her diary a number of times growing up, I hadn't really felt any particular desire to go see the house, but Jyoti did, and that was enough incentive to go along with.

We then headed over to the Resistance Museum, which is actually quite close to our apartment and the office. Everything I could've hoped for, emotionally, in visiting the Anne Frank House I got at the Resistance Museum. ( Read more... )
So those were my two days of being a tourist in Amsterdam. It's incredibly hard to be a tourist in a city where you live. I lived in Madison 6 years and never did end up getting to the Elvehjem Museum (which is no longer the LVM, it's the "Chazen Museum of Art", I see). I don't like being a tourist - I don't like marking myself out as someone who doesn't live here, because I do live here! But it's nice to have friends come visit, because they ARE tourists, and there's nothing wrong with accompanying tourists. :)
