"It's raining again..."

I guess July went on record as one of the fourth hottest months in recorded Dutch history, and August has so far been the wettest (and the month isn't over yet!) Today is certainly not belying that claim. It rained hard over night - to the point where it triggered the unconscious "oh no, it's raining hard, we have open windows!" reflex which woke me up - even though none of the windows that we have are such that rain can come through them, unless it's raining up. Four times now today it has started pouring down so hard that, from in the office looking out our windows, I feel like I'm in a car wash. All you can see is pelting rain. Ya know, you'd think we were living in a monsoon country or something. I'm really beginning to miss the sun. But this makes me all the more glad that we actually got out biking yesterday, in the brief few hours of sunshine. (And after it did rain yesterday, we got treated to two gorgeous rainbows, one regular and one inverted) while we biked). My legs feel surprisingly fine after their workout, but my knees definitely hurt, those ligaments right behind the knee caps.
