Leeds, Day 2
Jul. 8th, 2008 04:50 pmI appear to have figured out the magic needed to get the internet in my room working: wait two days. After failures at getting an IP address numerous times in a row Sunday night I'd given up, but I had a bit of time now (the last session ended a bit early) and I figured, what the heck, I'll just plug things in and boot up the laptop and see what happens, and I got an IP address first time.
Today so far I've been to two sessions on Old English plant names and one on bricks, ceramics, and turf. I tried to spend lunch break preparing my talk tomorrow, but didn't get very far as I'd forgotten to grab a copy of my handout, and the majority of the preparation I still need to do consists in jotting down the English translations of the Latin quotes on my handout. I think I'll forego one of the dinner sessions, and just come back to my room between the set of talks before dinner and the dance workshop, which starts at 9pm. That'll give me a good three hours to get my translations and do a test run of my talk.
