photo updates

Joel and I decided to take a vacation day today. Among other things, I'm trying to get through our photo backlog...we've got about 3,300 pictures we've taken since February 2007 which we've been lax about putting up on the web.

So! We now have pictures from Spring 2007, starting with a few from around Amsterdam, then Joel's trip to Lille, and then our trip to Germany with his parents and aunt to visit relatives.

Also, Summer 2007, starting with a lot of various coot and duck pictures -- yeah, I know, I taken them every spring/summer; then pictures from the Oosterpark where there are some trees which just get clobbered by insects every spring, making them look very ghostlike; followed by (starting here) pictures from Montreux.

Lastly (for this post, hopefully not for the day) I finally grabbed the pictures of ursule's laurel scroll. No individual picture is that great on its own, but she's promised me to take some more once they're signed and sealed.

And once they're done uploading, my pictures from SIEPM in Palermo last September will be available here. These include pictures of the Norman palace in Palermo, which is the seat of the Sicilian government, the cathedral at Monreale (someday, I want pillars like that in my house), Erice, the temple at Segesta (the source of my new icon), the cathedral at Cefalu (interspersed with a cat successfully hunting a lizard), ending with a climb to the top of the hill/mountain to see the pre-historic, early medieval, and Norman remains (and take many pictures out across the ocean of what I'm pretty sure was Vulcano and Lipari, but were just far enough away that I could resolve them with my eyes, but not on the camera. :( ).
