This makes the third bookcase that we've acquired from the trash since moving here. (In fact, all of our bookcases that we've acquired since moving here have come from the trash.) It's wood and it had been raining today, but it doesn't seem to have damaged it too much. Joel says that it looks like it was probably the top part of a hutch, but it's just the right width and height to fit in the front hall. What with the move in May and not being able to keep my books at the office any more, we definitely need some more bookshelf space in the house, so this is nice and opportunte.
