so tired...
Jul. 5th, 2010 09:04 pmJust conked out face first on the bed for about 45 min. I really needed it -- conferences in generally are exhausting, but the last week has been particularly so; Wed. night was the conference reception and then afterwards some drama that involved dinner being postponed until nearly midnight (and the consisting of cheese and ham sandwiches on wonder bread from the hotel bar); Thurs. was the Women in Computing dinner; Fri. afternoon Jesse and I thought we were only skipping the general meeting of the CiE Association to go do some work but we actually both totally spaced and didn't realize that we also ended up skipping a session of contributed talks, and we worked straight through until about 8:30, and then ended up lingering over dinner together for about 3 hours; Sat. was the conference excursion and dinner (about which more in the future, hopefully) from which we got back at 1:30am; and last night I landed in Toulouse at 12:30am, got to the hotel around 1:00am and was too keyed up about things to fall asleep for before 2:00am, about 6 hours before the alarm went off again so I could get out to LOFT registration, and throughout all this week, I've had so much stuff tromping through my mind that getting to sleep has been difficult. So surviving today's talks, most of which were in a room with cushy movie-theatre chairs very conducive to sleeping, was pretty difficult, and involved large quantities of tea during the breaks.
But my slides for tomorrow are just about done, I'm going out for dinner in about 10 min., and when I get back I can go straight to sleep. Whoo! And two more days and I'll finally be home again, for a little while.
