dinner date
Jun. 17th, 2011 11:15 amLast night Joel and I went out to the Siebensternbräu, which two different people had told me was the best local brewery in the city. He got wild pork in a juniper sauce with red cabbage and a semolina dumpling, and I got cheese spätzle with bacon and fried onions (oh, heavenly):

We were there for three hours, picking over my spätzle and drinking beer (him) and (me) tea. He tried three of their beers, the chilli, the rauch, and the dunkel, liking the dunkel the best. I allow myself tiny sips of whatever he's having (by the time it reaches my stomach I figure there's hardly any alcohol left), and I rather liked the chilli one, though as he said, it wasn't very complex, it was basically "beer taste then chilli taste" and that was it. Both of us had had sort of rotten days, so a lot of the conversations was griping and sympathy, but it was still a really good night. I'm glad I have someone that I can be grumpy with sometimes.
