For the last week, Gwen has been sleeping until between 8:00 and 8:30am.

Joel told me this when I came back from Copenhagen on Sunday, and he attributed it to not putting her to bed until between 20:00-20:30 rather than between 19:00-19:30 (he commented that I'm much more efficient with picking her up from daycare, getting her home, fed, bathed, changed, and put down to bed...). I confess, I was rather skeptical. In the past, it hasn't mattered when she went to bed, she either slept 11-12 hours OR woke up around 6:00, whichever came first. But he insisted...so Sunday I fed her later and then let her spend extra time playing in her bath, and got her to bed around 19:45. Came down after putting her to bed, and he asked, "Oh, you gave her her bottle already?" Turns out, he'd been giving her a full bottle every night before bed; when he put her down Tuesday night she was fussy and unhappy and he just assumed that she always got a bottle before bed and she was fussing because he didn't give her one. I hadn't been, since she'd pretty much each supper and then go straight to bed, so I was a bit skeptical again, not sure that she could really be that hungry after eating a big meal, but I made her a 90ml bottle (instead of her usual 150ml), and she sucked it down happily...and then woke up around 4:30am needing to be fed, but after that, she went back to sleep until 8:00.

Last night, I decided to go ahead with the full 150ml before bed, and she was asleep by 20:00. But then she woke up around 22:50, and wouldn't resettle, and by about 23:15 she was screaming and screaming, it was almost as if she was in pain. After I failed miserably to calm her, Joel came and took her, so I figured what the heck, maybe a bottle will help, because even though it was crying unlike anything I've heard except one or two other times, I thought I heard a bit of the "OMG they aren't feeding me!" hysteria in her voice. Sure enough, she sucked down another 150ml, and then went to bed peacefully. She needed her pacifier replaced around 3:30, and when she woke up at 6:30 I knew I couldn't get her to go back to sleep without a feeding, so I gave her her first bottle then, and she went back to sleep for two hours.

So, I wouldn't say the last two nights have been unqualified successes, certainly not like the nights when Joel was in charge, but she has been sleeping past 8:00, something I never managed to get her to do myself. She still gets in a good morning nap (1h10min yesterday, 1.5 hours today, and that was because I had to wake her to go to daycare, I'm not sure how much longer she would've slept if I hadn't), and has moved to 1 afternoon nap instead of two, and that afternoon nap is often 2+ hours, which means that keeping her up an extra hour isn't a problem.

Who would've thought? I sure hope to keep this trend going.
