In my experience, the one individual least likely to appreciate the importance of the Signet's job...is the Signet. Because for the best Signets, the necessary level of organization comes so naturally that they don't feel like they're doing any work at all. And also because it's so easy, unfortunately, for both the herald and the Crown to take it for granted. But without the work they do to organize the production and delivery of scrolls, nothing else works right!
I always make a special point of thanking Polaris Signet, or whomever is standing in for her (it seems to always be "her", at least in Northshield), after any court I herald. Because my job as a court herald would be pretty much impossible without her.
