Cool, thanks for the thought. Certainly, actual rice wasn't called for as far as I could tell -- but I really wasn't sure at all how it would work as it was written! I might have been a bit more adventuresome if I hadn't begun to worry that I had more people coming than food and wanted to have another pretty hearty dish on the table -- and "rice pudding" certainly fits that bill.
