Yesterday, Gwen wanted more bananas and asked if she could go to the store all by herself to get them. I gave her 10 quid (the smallest amount I had) and told her to also get yoghurt (the kind we usually get, not any of the fancy sweetened kinds she always comments on...). She's gone to the store before to get an occasional thing or two, but this was the first time neither of us walked her to the crosswalk, and she went all by herself the whole way.

She got home and told me she was too short to reach the bananas, and she also couldn't find someone in a uniform (because on previous trips I'd said if there was something she couldn't get herself, she could ask someone in a uniform because they work there and could help), so instead she asked a man who was also buying bananas if he could get some down for her, and he did.

This morning, I told her I needed to go out and get more brandy to finish up making boozy plums for Raglan, and her response? "I'll go get it for you, all by myself, mummy!" :) Not this time, dear...
