three things that amused me
Sep. 28th, 2007 08:32 pmI forgot these in my last posts.
The first was that posters for the conference were plastered all over the city -- like posters for a rock concert or a party. What amazed me wasn't so much that they did that, but that the posters hadn't immediately gotten covered over with other posters! When else am I going to be giving a talk which is advertised all over the city in such a public manner!
I was asked for directions, in Italian, three times, twice in Palermo and once in Erice. It's nice to know I can blend in and look like I belong.
There was a sign near the Norman Palace which I almost took my camera back for a picture. It was a hand-written sign posted on a building which said:
<- Palatine Chapel
Toilets ->
What more do you need?
