I was bored last night so I decided to watch the news and crochet. This apartment is the first time I've had a TV with accessible channels (i.e., rather than one I just used to play movies) in my domicile since I was 10. But I've found I enjoy the news presented on BBC World. After I'd caught all the headlines, I decided to actually channel surf a bit and find what else we get here other than BBC1, BBC2, and BBC World. I found a show in German, and was pleasantly pleased to see that I could follow most of the dialogue (the last formal lessons in German that I've had were almost 17 years ago). Next channel was a Dutch one, playing a movie in English with Dutch subtitles (a good way to learn all the dirty words...). The movie was recognizably a teen movie based on its actors, and was about half-way in, at the point where one of the characters got his car stolen and then the run down by his own car (run perpendicular to the street, you idiot!). I had been relaying the plot to Joel in the other room, and he insisted I had to continue watching to find out why the car had been stolen, despite the growing realization that this was a bad horror film that I was watching. But it was too late, we were suckered in...
So the two of us ended up staying up until almost 3:00am watching "I know what you did last summer" and "I STILL know what you did last summer" - two of the stupidest movies I have seen in a long time!
