that's a bit more like it.
Feb. 12th, 2008 03:58 pmYesterday evening Joel and I went out running for the first time this year. I was shocked. I made it once around the park without stopping (not even for water! The water fountains are all taken down until spring/summer, which is annoying) and then the half-loop once without stopping. This was after not having run since October or so, and doing once around the park without stopping was a major accomplishment at the end of last summer, after we'd been running semi-regularly for four or five months. I had expected to have lost a lot more conditioning over winter than I actually did, which was a pleasant surprise, even if we were definitely going at a much slower pace than usual. (Joel went around twice, and the entire outing took about half an hour, whereas we usually do two loops together and Joel does a third himself while I stretch, and that was taking us about 25 minutes at the end of last summer.) I expected to wake up absolutely beat this morning, and when I got out of bed and wasn't even all that stiff, I was again surprised. Not any longer...after having walked around some this morning and then sat at my desk all day, oooh, yeah, I'm a bit stiff and sore...that's a bit more like what I was expecting.
