So, as you probably figured out, no liveblogging at Leeds happened. However, I did take my laptop to almost all sessions and took notes, so tonight or tomorrow I will post them for anyone who might be interested.
I think the highlight of the week might have been the side-trip that Stephen and I took to York to attend a concert in the York Early Music Festival. The music was from the era of the black death and was about mourning and death and was incredibly lovely and amazing. As we walked back to the train station afterwards, the sun was setting over the river Ouse as we traversed the bridge, and I turned, looked at the sunset and commented "If I'd brought my camera, I would take a picture of this." Other highlights of the conference include buying way too many books at the onomastic table, acquiring two volumes of Rashdall's Histories of the Universities of Europe for 8 pounds each at one of the antiquarian booksellers, the fabulous medieval feast organized by Caroline Yeldham on Monday, the fingerloop braiding workshop on Tuesday, and, of course, the sessions I organized and chaired on Wednesday, which included my own paper. Thursday I took the train to Downham Market where I got to eat pizza and kibitz about calligraphy and learn how to do penwork flourishes with
