Was wonderful and amazing and fantastic and deserves a post written when I have more mental effort to devote to it than I have now.

Suffice it to say, there are pictures. If anyone would like a higher res version, or would like me to remove one, just give me a holler.

About 5 minutes after I arrived on site on Friday I got conscripted to the scriptorium where I did the calligraphy for a number of scrolls for the event. They are here:

Illumination only
Alaric

Calligraphy only
Alaric

Dafydd

Chiara

Bjorn

And I can also post pictures of the soul-sucking scroll from last week. It was partly remedied by lots of people commenting that "oh, early-period style! Ursula will love that, since her persona is early period!", which I didn't know when I picked the design. As I've noted earlier, the calligraphy is gorgeous, so I will give you the version which just shows that; if you click on it you'll get to see the horrible borders:

It was (there's pics of it being received on FB, though you can't actually see the scroll), and it got absolutely rave reviews. People loved the plate!

Ooh! Ooh! Was that Antonio's ODS? If so, it was marvellous! He was delighted with it.

Great pictures! Love the ones of the Queen on the parapet, and the person shouting from the tower by the flag!

Looks like it was a new Viceroy/Vicerine for Insulae Draconis?

Anyway, I don't think the borders on the one scroll you were worrying about look bad at all!

The man on the tower was Lord Robert of Canterbury, a most wonderful herald and generally spiffy man all around. You may have met him at Known World, I'm not sure; he's [livejournal.com profile] bend_gules's lord.

And yup, new V&V for Insula Draconis, and it's their last; the first Coronet tourney will be held in February, to be stewarded by [livejournal.com profile] edith_hedingham.

Even looking for them, I can't identify any particular issues with the border =)

Calligraphy: Rock on--looks great
Side borders: Pretty damn good--those internal lines can be a bitch, but you did pretty well on them.
Top and bottom borders: they look fuzzy? Paint too watery/thin? Once way to fix the fuzzyness is go back through after it is dry with a black pen or thin brush and touch up your outlines--it is time consuming, but it will give you that crisp look. You can often see in manuscripts the difference in where they inked after and where they only inked before.

The bottom border looks particularly fuzzy (esp. at the right) 'cause that the one the smeared after the outlines been inked, and before they were filled in. You're right, I could probably have crisped it up by going over the outlines again, but I think that would probably have driven me over the edge! :)
