Last night I dreamt I went back to work; the institute I was at was clearly the UvA, but it was housed in the 5th floor of Helen C. White Hall at UW-Madison (i.e., where the phil. dept. is there), and peopled by UvTers. It was great. I'm really looking forward to going back to work. Officially my leave ends on Friday; to round things out nicely I think I'm going to take another week off so that I'm home with Gwen until she 3 months, and then I'm not sure what I'll do for the next 2.5 weeks before she starts day care, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Last night I also dreamt that I took my baby to a well-baby check up and was chided up and down for my parenting skills, but since that baby was a baby boy (must have been Edward), it didn't bother me too much!

More on Gwen's progress (mostly so that I have it documented in case I ever want to know later): The doctor asked if she'd started paying attention to her hands yet, in terms of looking at them and bringing them together, and I had to answer "not really". But she is beginning to use them quite a bit more. Both Joel and I noticed about a week and a half ago that she has become quite adapt with maneuvering her bottle with them. I still hold it, but she'll put her hands on either side, and push it away when she needs a short break, and pull it back into her mouth when she's ready for me. It's very deliberate, so I know it's not just random movements. She can also now occasionally get her thumb (and maybe forefinger) into her mouth, rather than having to be contented with sucking on the first two knuckles on her hand.

She's begun to be interested in her reflection in mirrors.

About a week ago the drooling started.

She really enjoys sitting.

She rolled over (tummy to back) three more times at 11w0d, but nothing more. They didn't even ask at this appointment if she's rolling yet, which surprised me a bit.

She grins when I come in and rescue her from her basket when she wakes up in the morning or after naps. It's very rewarding.

We often have long conversations in the afternoons in the rocking chair. This is usually when she's quiet but not sleepy so we read books for awhile and then she starts talking back to me. (Sometimes it's also when she should be sleepy and we're just sitting and rocking gently in silence and she'll spit out her pacifier, grin and me, and start babbling away. The grin always gets me. It's like she knows that I want her to be quietening down but that I won't be able to resist her chattering if she grins at me first.)

I think that's all I've noticed recently.
