10 minutes

In 10 minutes my phone will buzz at me and I'll pack up my things and go get Gwen from her first real day at daycare.

I have had such a good afternoon; did a bunch of admin things (finally got a computer in my office on Tuesday, so I got thunderbird, firefox, etc. set up; reminded myself why I hate Windows so much), picked up some books from the library, read a few articles, cleaned up my office some (still unpacking boxes from the UvA), found where paper recycling goes and removed a huge stack from the desk.

I cannot wait for these 10 minutes to pass. I'm ready to see my little girl's smiles and pick her up and snuggle her close (and hopefully not hear that she spent the afternoon screaming and failing to take a nap).

On the plus side, if she didn't nap, she'll sleep well tonight...

Unfortunately it doesn't always work like that! Sleep breeds sleep, and a well-slept baby tends to sleep well at night, whereas one that's gotten overtired during the day can sleep more fitfully. Luckily, they managed to get her to take *two* naps in the afternoon!
