Yes, I know all about knocking on wood...
We still haven't put much effort into the whole potty training thing. When we get home from daycare in the evenings, she's goes first thing and then changes into underwear which she wears until bed time. In the morning, she'll usually ask to go once before we head out, but we keep her in diapers. Over the weekends, it depends on whether we have errands to run, or how much attention I want to pay to stop accidents, etc. But yesterday, she went all afternoon in underwear without any accidents, and three or four successful trips to the potty.
We'll bring underwear along on our trip so that she can wear it if she wants (though I'm not sure about doing so at my in-laws' place, since it's carpeted everywhere except for the kitchen...).
I head out to get the shuttle to the airport in about 3.5 hours, and from thence I fly to Kathmandu via Istanbul. I'll meet up with Joel and Gwen in Chicago on Friday. I'm still horribly sad that I'll be missing Gwen's birthday tomorrow. I hope this doesn't ever happen again.

You celebrated with her, you didn't forget, and I bet you could facetime or something with her on the actual day. A birthday is only one day - you've got the rest of this two-year-old year to spend with her!
