This morning when I got up, Gwen was downstairs on the couch hugging Paddington Bear and crying.

I asked her why, and she pulled out the book she was reading (Here Comes Paddington) and pointed to the place where Paddington asks if the marmalade will be too expensive because "I don't have very much money". She was so super awful worried about Paddington not having any money that she couldn't even move on to the next sentence (when Mr. Brown says "of course not" and that they wouldn't be charging Paddington money because he'd be one of the family).

Milestone: First time crying over a book.

Oh, that is really sweet. Luckily, that particular scene is unlikely to make her cry next time she reads it. But some books trigger that effect every time. I still can't read Anne of Green Gables without crying when Mathew dies, for example.
